TOCCOA, Ga. (AP) - Police in a small northeast Georgia town are investigating a murder for the first time in seven years.
Toccoa Police Chief Jackie Whitmire says 62-year-old Roger Dale Hughes was found shot in the head at his home Aug. 29. He died at a hospital Thursday, five days after he was discovered.
Whitmire says police have been investigating the killing "all day, every day ever since." Whitmire says Hughes' home showed no signs of forced entry and police have few leads so far.
Toccoa is a town of about 10,000 people on the Georgia-South Carolina border.
