Associated Press - October 24, 2009 11:24 PM ET

MIAMI (AP) - Celebrities and politicians are celebrating five "heroes of the hemisphere" in Miami.

The Pan American Development Foundation on Saturday honored five people it calls "unsung leaders in the Americas" for the innovative ways in which they help impoverished children, farm or blog about living under communism.

The secretary general of the Organization of American States and Haiti's tourism minister were set to speak at the event at the Port of Miami.

A few celebrities also planned to attend, including Jimmy Jean-Louis from "Heroes" and Rainn Wilson from "The Office."

The PADF is the disaster relief arm of the OAS. Jean-Louis is also the foundation's goodwill ambassador for Haiti's children.
