Tallahassee, FL (WTXL)--Taking a cue from history, some Tallahassee residents stage a revolution of their own. ABC 27's Rebecca Baer has more on what they're protesting at the capitol.
Tallahassee is taken back to colonial times as hundreds rally for less government and fewer taxes. They're calling it the Tax Tea Party, one of several similar events taking place around the country.
Taking aim at the president and his stimulus plan as well as government bailouts, they protested in front of the capitol.
"You can't just hand out money to these companies because of the way they're using it. It's just not going to work," said Don Volsch, Crawfordville.
"Fully 60% of the federal government's budget is charity. It's not needed," said Pace Allen, Tax Tea Party.
But it's just not federal taxes they're against. Tea Party founder and local hotel manager, Pace Allen, has lead the charge against additional taxes on hotel stays like the one proposed for Leon County that would help fund a performing arts center.
And this event just practice for another Tea Party scheduled for Thursday when protesters take their message straight to county commissioners.
Tea Party participants will meet again on Thursday at the county courthouse starting at 5 pm.
