TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Two Tallahassee men are out on fraud charges after deputies say they were caught making several expensive purchases using counterfeit money.

According to court documents, Leon County deputies responded to the CVS on North Monroe Street in regards to a fraud in progress on Friday evening.

An employee told deputies that 35-year-old Antonio Atterberry had just purchased $900 worth of gift cards with fake $50 bills.

Documents say after Atterberry left he and 32-year-old Kevin Mccormick went to Publix where they both used the gift cards to buy $500 money orders.

Deputies say after they got the money orders, they went back to CVS and this time they were able to catch Atterberry leaving the store.

When deputies approached him, Atterberry randomly said he didn't steal anything. In their get a way car, deputies found Mccormick in the drivers seat.

Documents say when deputies looked inside the vehicle they noticed fake $50 and $20 bills in plain sight on the passenger's side.

During their investigation, deputies also spoke with a Publix employee who told deputies that the two men were caught on camera purchasing the money orders.

After investigating, deputies say there was about $990 of fake money inside the car.

Based on the evidence, both Atterberry and Mccormick were arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Center. They each are facing a series of charges including fraud and grand theft.

Both men have since bonded out.
