FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Franklin County Humane Society says they received a large, unexpected monetary donation when a local business owner handed them a garbage bag full of dirty dollar bills.

FCHS says Pat Kelly of Harry A’s found himself with a garbage bag full of $1 bills he removed them from the walls of business while completing reconstruction after Hurricane Michael.

"What to do with all this grubby money?" FCHS wrote on Facebook. "Why donate it to the Humane Society of course."

On Monday, $3,417 was deposited into the Humane Society’s general fund where officials say it will be used to care for the homeless pets in their care.

"The Humane Society is grateful for this unexpected monetary gift and would like to thank Pat for every single dirty dollar," FCHS wrote.
