TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - FSU is hosting Hazing Prevention Week, a week dedicated to informing students about the dangers and consequences of hazing.

The event comes nearly one year after FSU fraternity pledge Andrew Coffey died after a hazing incident, which led to President Thrasher suspending all Greek activities last year.

Tuesday night dozens of students gatherd in FSU'S ballroom for a conversation about the legal side of hazing.

David Bianchi, Coffey's family lawyer and the guest speaker, says it's up to students to speak up if they see hazing at school or within their organization.

"The school can't be everywhere at one time," Bianchi said. "The school police can't be everywhere at one time, so we have to rely on folks like you who get it, who care enough to show up at something like this and to stop it when they see it about to happen."

On Wednesday, FSU will host a Hazing Prevention Themed "Market Wednesday" from 11 am-1 pm.

There students can stop by for free food and giveaways.
