TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Taylor County investigators are searching for answers after a weekend murder.

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office said it was an early morning call Sunday, just before 2:00 a.m.

People were calling 911 about a shooting on South Red Padgett Road.

Deputies and first responders headed to that location, but when they got there, Chris Strickland was dead.

His obituary listed on the Burns Funeral Home website said he was a 34-year-old husband and father of two.

We reached out to family members to learn more about him. A relative told us the family isn't speaking publicly at this time, since it's still an active investigation.

She did ask for prayers for the family, as they mourn this unexpected loss.

The sheriff's office said it's waiting on autopsy results after the FDLE Crime Lab processed the scene.

Meanwhile, everyone who was at the scene when deputies arrived have been identified, but the sheriff's office didn't indicate whether or not that includes any suspects.

Strickland's funeral will be Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Perry.
