TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Friday, a new grand jury heard details regarding the death of FSU student Andrew Coffey.

Last month, a previous grand jury indicated there's enough evidence to pursue criminal charges.

We're still waiting to find out whether or not this new grand jury will take up this case. They got here at 9 a.m. Friday morning, meeting for the first time, but as always these proceedings are closed to the public.

It was quiet compared to last month, when several members of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity were brought in to testify. The grand jury at that time came up with what's called a presentment, meaning they didn't make any decisions about indicting anyone.

When we talked to state attorney Jack Campbell shortly after, he promised he wouldn't make any decisions to charge until he presented the case to this new grand jury.

He's said before that it's likely criminal charges will be filed. It's just a matter of when and who will do it.

The grand jury has the power to indict but it can choose to leave that to the state attorney's office.
