TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man has been arrested, accused of hiding crack cocaine in an 8-year-old child's pocket to avoid being taken into custody.

Cravest Russ, 41, was arrested on Thursday.

According to arrest documents, Russ was seen buying drugs from a known drug dealer at the Time Saver convenience store in the 500 block of West Brevard Street.

When officers approached Russ and the drug dealer, the drug dealer ran away, dropping money and a white tube as he ran.

As officers were tied up with trying to catch the drug dealer, another officer witnessed Russ scoop up the dropped items and stuff them into the pockets of a 8-year-old child who was with him.

When officer searched the child, they found a baggie with marijuana in it as well as a white chap stick tube. Inside the tube, they found crack cocaine.

At first, Russ told police that the child picked up the items without him knowing, but after being confronted with the officer's observations, Russ changed his story and admitted to stuffing the drugs in the child's pockets.

Police write Russ admitted that he uses crack cocaine, because he was "looking for an easy lick."

Russ was charged with delivery of a controlled substance to a minor, possession of cocaine, marijuana and narcotic equipment.
