TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor is asking the District School Board to review a case against suspended Lincoln High School coach Dimitric Salters.

Proctor claims Superintendent Rocky Hanna authorized an illegal criminal investigation against Coach Salters.

He also says although the School District forwarded their allegations to the State Attorney's office, Salters was not interviewed or given the opportunity to make a statement.

Proctor released a statement in regards to Salters saying:

"To clear his name and to demonstrate his innocence, Mr. Salters deserves that justice be served by way of a speedy trial... Mr. Salters has been exploited, his rights violated, his earning capacity and coaching career is stalled and worse his name exist under a dark cloud."

Superintendent Rocky Hanna released his own statement in response to Proctor saying:

"Once again Commissioner Proctor spouts off with inaccuracies in a rush to garner the media coverage he constantly desires. We have a wonderful relationship with our local elected officials. All the commissioner needed to do was pick up a phone and call me, thus saving himself the public embarrassment of making false allegations."

Salters was arrested in 2017 on charges of fraud and grand theft, accused of stealing $13,000 from the school district.

His trial is set for January.
