TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man faces domestic battery charges after he punched, kicked, and threw a small table at his wife during an argument.

Christopher Ward, 46, was arrested by the Leon County Sheriff's Office on Saturday.

According to the police report, on Sept. 17, the victim returned home and began arguing with Ward over their financial situation.

The victim stated when the argument escalated, Ward began hitting her with a closed fist and when she fell to the floor, he began kicking her.

During the altercation, Ward picked up a small table and threw it at the victim, hitting her in the back of the head.

The victim told deputies that Ward also picked up her cellphone and threw it across the room. The impact from the phone created a small hole in the wall, shattering the screen.

The victim said she screamed at Ward to stop hitting her, at which time he did.

When the victim told Ward to never come back, he began hitting her again causing her to fall to the floor. He kicked her again as well while she was on the ground, before running to the garage, getting into his car, and leaving the house.

The police report stated the victim had lumps on her head, a swollen wrist, and she complained of pain while moving her fingers or rotating her wrist. She also had a 2-inch cut on the back of her shoulder blade.

On the same day, the victim drove to Capital Regional Medical Center to receive medical attention.

Hospital staff told her that she had contusions on her head, however she had no broken bones or serious head injuries.

Based on the evidence, Ward is being charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm.

He was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.
