TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man who was arrested in connection to a 2012 murder at Leon Arms Apartments will spend life in prison after being found guilty on Monday.

Raynard Ford was found guilty of second degree murder on Monday. He has been sentenced to life in prison and labeled a prison release re-offender.

Court documents say Ford was arrested on August 26, 2012 after Tallahassee Police found Davonn Brewton lying on the ground near Leon Arms Apartments with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

According to witnesses, Brewton and Ford got into a fight stemming from an ongoing feud involving a female.

During the fight, Ford pulled a gun on Brewton and the two fought for several seconds before Brewton was shot.

Ford was also injured by his own gunfire in the altercation. He later admitted to police that he was in possession of a .9 mm handgun when he and Brewton got into a fight.
