TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is helping parents and students meet a need for the summer.

WTXL ABC27'S Karah Bailey has details about TPD's Summer Academy.

High school students interested in TPD's summer program can get ready for Training, Achievement and Confidence.

It's a double entendre that matches students in TPD's Summer Academy Leadership Program to the Tactical Apprehension and Control team that designed it.

The goal of the program is to prepare students to become multifaceted leaders, ready for everything life throws their way.

Twenty students will attend four interactive classes to learn practical application for decision making, defining relationships, planning for the future and becoming a leader. To complete the program, they use the skills they learned to solve a mock crime scene.

TPD is accepting applications, and the program begins July 23.
