LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS surprised 30 local kids at the Lincoln Neighborhood Center with bicycles and helmets as part of Academy Sports annual holiday bike donation program.
The entire holiday bike donation program benefits more than 5,000 students and provides local schools across Academy's 16-state footprint with an opportunity to reward children during the holidays for perfect attendance, academic performance, good behavior, and need.
"It's really great that they are doing this around Christmas time. You know a lot of kids don't get the opportunity to have a bike, it's something that gets them outside, keep them active," said Walter Preston, a local parent. "We think it's a great thing their doing and we really appreciate it."
