TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man was arrested after a traffic stop led police to finding him in possession of multiple drugs and over $2,000 in cash.
According to court documents, officers were patrolling the Griffin Heights neighborhood on Monday evening.
While patrolling the area officers became suspicious of a vehicle that had "extremely dark tints." This led them to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Documents say when officers approached the vehicle they identified the driver as 31-year-old Maurice Bowers. While officers were speaking with Bowers they noticed he was holding air freshener.
Based on the odor they were smelling, officers believe Bowers had just sprayed the scent to cover up the smell of cannabis in his car.
A K-9 officer then indicated that there was drugs in the vehicle, so officers conducted a search.
Documents say during the search they found a digital scale, a box of plastic bags, and drug residue.
Based on what officers found in Bowers vehicle, they decided to search him as well.
During the search, officers found a plastic bottle of cannabis inside his jacket. Bowers was also carrying a Gucci bag that had cocaine, molly, meth, and $2,459 in cash. In addition to those items, officers found a gun inside of Bowers' pocket.
According to documents, Bowers was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
Bowers is facing a series of charges including cocaine, marijuana, and meth possession with the intent to sell, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He has since bonded out.
