TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- More than 150 volunteers spent this morning cleaning up trash at the Apalachicola Forest. Illegal dumping is an issue in Florida's largest national forest.

Last year, volunteers picked up nearly 35 tons of trash in the Leon County part of the forest. The U.S. Forest Service says the problem just keeps getting worse.

One volunteer, Tonya Si, says, "Someone just burnt a whole trash barrel out there, so we had to clean that up. Cages of trash where it took them effort to get it out there." Clean up crews found everything from tires and couches to t.v.s today.
