TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - If you are one of the homeowners who suffered damage from Hurricane Michael, where do you begin?
Kevin Milligan, the Sales Manager with Joe Manausa Real Estate, said if you haven't contacted your insurance agent yet, you need to do so right away. Have an adjuster come to your home to see if there are any claims that you can file.
If you need repairs done to your home, he says make sure you hire a reputable company, go online and do research, but make those phone calls now to get yourself on the lists.
"You need to take pictures as soon as its safe to do so, make sure you photograph everything in your house, any damage that was done to your property and yard and the next thing you do is call your insurance company immediately," said Milligan.
Also, if your home is on the market, or if you're looking to put it on the market soon, make sure you call your real estate company or realtor.
And finally, if you can't or don't want to pay someone to clean up your yard debris, then get outside and start cleaning it up.
