TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Wreaths Across America's annual wreath laying event at the Capitol Courtyard took place on Monday.

This is the tenth year the organization has presented wreaths at all 50 state Capitol buildings.

Governor-elect Ron DeSantis was there and delivered remarks talking about the importance of veterans who've served and passed away.

Rickards JROTC did the presentation of the colors.

Those who attended said the ceremony is important for not only vets, but for children to understand the sacrifices vets have made.

"This event is absolutely important as you can tell by the attendance from all the school kids that were out there today," said Dennis Baker, President of Florida Veterans Foundation. "They got the real essence from folks who been there and to hear from people that have fought."

The annual Wreaths Across America ceremony at the Tallahassee National Cemetery will take place Saturday, December 15 at 12:00 p.m.
